I began learning Dutch on my own in 1996, using a book titled (appropriately enough) "Teach Yourself Dutch." At the same time, I got my first high-speed internet connection and realized that the internet could be an incredible resource for someone with no real-life connection to the language. I made the first version of this page in 1997, recommending friendly Dutch-language newsgroups and a few scholarly websites. Since then, the available material has become more copious, more user-friendly, and more fun. I hope that this new version of the page will be valuable to others who share my affection for the Dutch language.
